History

Darrin WattsMy name is Darrin Earl Watts and my family is proud to have served Ontario communities for generations. As I look back on my 23 years as a licensed Funeral Director, I realize that my fundamental understanding of funeral service derives from being born and raised in this very unique field. Funeral Service is my family’s chosen profession. Much of what I’ve learned, I have learned from my parents, Barbara and Max through their many years in this industry. While my father was licensed as a Funeral Director throughout my early childhood, my mother earned her certification while I was a young adult in order to serve the communities in which we conducted business. Professionalism, dignity and respect fuel our acknowledgment that every individual is entitled to their own unique family service; one which can be a testament to and a celebration of life.

Barb & Max WattsThe Watts Funeral Parlor in which I was raised is very different from our new facility that serves the town of Penetanguishene. As a child, our Funeral Home was attached directly to our family home so that my travels, as a curious child, often crossed paths with patrons of my family’s business. While our new location in Penetanguishene is not contained within my family home, I continue to answer the calls of our clients personally 24 hrs. each day. The funeral industry of old now gives way to the new Death Care Industry. In many ways, some things never change; as my family before me, my purpose and role is to serve those in need. We strive to do that with the Maison Funéraire Watts Funeral Home located at 14 Poyntz St. in Penetanguishene.

Our facility is professionally designed and customized to uphold the beliefs, rights and rituals of our clients during their difficult time. Every detail has been taken into consideration from the main floor design with barrier free access to the large canopy for outdoor protection from the elements to the large parking area for visitors. Large interior hallways with architectural detail give way to spacious visitation suites. The expected hard, wooden pews have been upgraded to comfortable chairs allowing each family the ability to create intimate conversation areas or seating for a large traditional service.

Each family is given the opportunity to create their own unique display of memories through the use of Memorial picture boards, DVD display of photographs and individual musical selections. Our Lounge offers a comfortable setting to every family during each visitation time. Washroom facilities are located directly across the hall and are barrier free. We welcome families and friends to utilize the large reception facilities to enhance each Celebration of Life immediately following their service; catering can be arranged or families may supply their own refreshments and food.

At the Maison Funéraire Watts Funeral Home we believe that our high level of service will lead you, your family and your friends on the path to positive grief recovery. We are pleased and proud to offer this facility to the town of Pentanguishene and surrounding area. Along with my parents, we welcome you to visit us at any time for a tour or for a discussion as to how we can serve you and your family.
